Hailing originally from Columbus, Ohio, Steve Schnall has been an active member of the Chicago music for 13 years. He is a graduate from the Capital University Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Performance and a minor in conducting. Right out of college, Steve assumed the Jazz Director position with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' "Legend of The Seas" that toured throughout Latin America, Hawaii, and Alaska. Since his move to Chicago in 1996 Steve continues to be one of the most requested multi-instrumentalists in the Midwest.
He plays the soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxes in addition to clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, piccolo, drums/percussion, vocals, and piano/keys for over 20 years. Steve Schnall has toured all over the world performing many styles of music including a jazz tour in Japan, rock shows all over the US and Canada, reggae shows in Jamaica, and many others. He has been featured on countless radio and television commercial spots including McDonalds, Budweiser, ACE Hardware, Dairy Queen, Montgomery Ward, Sunbeam, Sony Playstation, TCF Bank, just to name a few.
Steve Schnall has shared the stage with such musical luminaries as Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Al Jarreau, The Temptations, The O'Jays, The Dells, Diana Ross, Cece & Bebe Winans, The Isley Brothers, Don Rickles! , Clay A iken, Brian McKnight, Michael W. Smith, Gladys Knight, Charo, Buddy Guy, Ben Vereen, Blues Brothers Band, Guy Lombardo Orch, Keely Smith, Reverend Horton Heat, Martha Reeves, Captain & Tenille, Al Martino, John Abercrombie, Bobby Vinton, Franki Valli, Steve Lawrence, Phil Woods, Jim McNeeley, Rufus Reid, Wycliffe Gordon, Mark Colby, Chip McNeill, Tommy Dorsey Orch, The Whispers, Peabo Bryson, 3 Mo Tenors, and many others.
Steve has also completed a Master's Degree with Distinction from DePaul University in Jazz Studies and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Jazz Studies from The University of Illinois. Steve Schnall currently resides in both Champaign and Chicago, Illinois with his wife, Jamie, and their son, Gavin.
